Fed Reduces Rate by Half-Point; 2nd Cut in 8 Days - New York Times

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/30/business/30cnd-fed.html?em&ex=1201842000&en=3a9703a90f887dd8&ei=5087%0A
I believe this is the clearest description being offered (NYTimes) of the
two recent Fed rate reductions along with the sweets from Uncle Sam's
pocket. The 140 billion " And Uncle Slippery Sam said unto the children:
"Now you be good and go spend it all at the Mall."
"And no this is not to buy your vote! I plan on stealing that so why would i
buy it?"

Of course the rate cuts are not going to put the R-E industry back together.
Liquidity is not the MAJOR issues at this time it's credibility and trust
and you can't buy those. So who is going to put their foot in the cesspool
first is more where it is at.

Home prices will probably continue to fall.

This dog and pony show may do some pocket stuffing for the investment banks
and aswell the personal credit (plastic) corporation as they will get allot
of that 140 billon since Mr. and Mrs. What Hit Us? Owe the plastic Gods big
time.

But that one liner in Bernanke's statement that employment is softening is
the kicker and in the shins. Or in more technical terms 'No work no buyer's
and this current crop of funny money is NOT going to create jobs. Jobs are
actually not even mentioned as a priority.
Though some of the major corporation see infrastructure as the only untapped
market out their nationally.
Remember, this is a consumer society not anylonger a nation of producers.
This is money to cover the buttocks and maybe delay the visit to the auction
block.

And especially for those at the bottom of what was referred to as the middle
class which really means both working. Isn't it interesting how the
descriptive term 'working class' was replaced by 'middle class' and entirely
based on gross income per year? Though some might define it by the number of
trinkets parked in the drive way.

But back to the issue. What is not acknowledged here with the effort to
manage this monster (as in.. ugly). Without producing something that is
actually needed and within the nations borders the economy becomes ...hocus
pocus.
It seems the only actual means of production we now have left is the
printing press at the U.S. Treasury and even that has the start button in
the hands of the Federal Reserve which is a private corporation owned by the
banks it supposedly "lends" too.
If you doubt that check out who the share holders of the Federal Reserve
actually are. And most of these are foreign investment banks that you and I
have never heard of. Am I suggesting they are actually Bernanke boss? We'll
it sure isn't the U.S. government in any form.

The founding fathers totally opposed the creation of central banks. They
felt the people through congress should control the nations money and of
course that it also be sound money which means backed by silver and gold.

But please also consider that everything in our lives on this earth sphere
has a cycle and some are short and some are longer but everything cycles.
And that's including all aspects of a nations economy. So for these guys to
not acknowledge that and adapt to market cycles is trying to push the stuff
back in the tube. It won't work as it never has.
Do our great leaders know this? Of course they know it's a scam but the way
they see it is... we don't know it. And it's their scam and the government
for these guys has one function in a crisis. To take the fall and arrange
for the likes of us to pick up the bill for the damages.

After a brief up blip because of today's Fed rate cut the equities mkt
closed..... down. The market is not buying this funny money smoke and
mirrors. And of course the dollar continued to self destruct. Gold and
silver went up. But who has gold? We are told it's only terrorist and mad
men ....The implication being reality is dangerous to our health and well
being.

I will be available in January 2009, am willing to relocate.
( Please don't skip the last section !)

RESUME

GEORGE W. BUSH

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue

Washington, DC 20520

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Law Enforcement:
I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine, in 1976 for driving under
the influence of alcohol. I pled guilty, paid a fine, and had my driver's
license suspended for 30 days. My Texas driving record has been "lost" and
is not available.

Military:
I joined the Texas Air National Guard and went AWOL. I refused to
take a drug test or answer any questions about my drug use. By joining the
Texas Air National Guard, I was able to avoid combat duty in Vietnam.

College:
I graduated from Yale University with a low C average. I was a
cheerleader.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE:

I ran for U.S. Congress and lost.

I began my career in the oil business in Midland Texas , in 1975.
I bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas. The company
went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock.

I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that
took land using taxpayer money.

With the help of my father and our friends in the oil industry
(including Enron CEO Ken Lay), I was elected governor of Texas.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR OF TEXAS:

I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies,
making Texas the most polluted state in the Union. During my tenure, Houston
replaced Los Angeles as the most smog-ridden city in America.

I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas treasury to the tune of
billions in borrowed money.

I set the record for the most executions by any governor in
American history.

With the help of my brother, the governor of Florida , and my
father's appointments to the Supreme Court, I became President of the United
States, after losing by over 500,000 votes.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT:

I am the first President in U.S. history to enter office with a
criminal record.

I invaded and occupied two countries at a continuing cost of over
one billion dollars per week.

I spent the U.S. surplus and effectively bankrupted the U.S.
Treasury.

I shattered the record for the largest annual deficit in U.S.
history.

I set an economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in
any 12-month period.

I set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12-month
period.

I set the all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of
the U.S. stock market. In my first year in office, over 2 million Americans
lost their jobs and that trend continues.

I'm proud that the members of my cabinet are the richest of any
administration in U.S. history. My "poorest millionaire, " Condoleezza Rice,
has a Chevron oil tanker named after her.

I set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips by a U.S.
President.

I am the all-time U.S. and world record -holder for receiving the
most corporate campaign donations.

My largest lifetime campaign contributor, and one of my best
friends, Kenneth Lay, presided over the largest corporate bankruptcy fraud
in U.S. history, Enron.

My political party used Enron private jets and corporate attorneys
to assure my success with the U.S. Supreme Court during my election
decision.

I have protected my friends at Enron and Halliburton against
investigation or prosecution. More time and money was spent investigating
the Monica Lewinsky affair than has been spent investigating one of the
biggest corporate rip-offs in history. I presided over the biggest energy
crisis in U.S. history and refused to intervene when corruption involving
the oil industry was revealed.

I presided over the highest gasoline prices in U.S. history.

I changed the U.S. policy to allow convicted criminals to be
awarded government contracts.

I appointed more convicted criminals to my administration than any
President in U.S. history.

I created the Ministry of Homeland Security, the largest
bureaucracy in the history of the United States Government.

I've broken more international treaties than any President in U.S.
history.

I am the first President in U.S. history to have the United
Nations remove the U.S. from the Human Rights Commission.

I withdrew the U.S. from the World Court of Law.

I refused to allow inspector's access to U.S. "prisoners of war"
detainees and thereby have refused to abide by the Geneva Convention.

I am the first President in history to refuse United Nations
election inspectors (during the 2002 US election)

I set the record for fewest numbers of press conferences of any
President since the advent of television.

I set the all-time record for most days on vacation in any
one-year period. After taking off the entire month of August, I presided
over the worst security failure in U.S. history

I garnered the most sympathy ever for the U.S. after the World
Trade Center attacks and less than a year later made the U.S. the most hated
country in the world, the largest failure of diplomacy in world history.

I have set the all-time record for most people worldwide to
simultaneously protest me in public venues (15 million people), shattering
the record for protests against any person in the history of mankind

I am the first President in U.S. history to order an unprovoked,
preemptive attack and the military occupation of a sovereign nation. I did
so against the will of the United Nations, the majority of U.S. Citizens and
the world community.

I have cut health care benefits for war veterans and support a cut
in duty benefits for active duty troops and their families in wartime.

In my State of the Union Address, I lied about our reasons for
attacking Iraq and then blamed the lies on our British friends.

I am the first President in history to have a majority of
Europeans (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and
security.

I am supporting development of a nuclear "Tactical Bunker Buster,"
a WMD.

I have so far failed to fulfill my pledge to bring Osama Bin Laden
to justice.

RECORDS AND REFERENCES:

All records of my tenure as governor of Texas are now in my
father's library, sealed and unavailable for public view.

All records of SEC investigations into my insider trading and my
bankrupt companies are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view.

All records or minutes from meetings that I, or my Vice-President,
attended regarding public energy policy are sealed in secrecy and
unavailable for public review. I specified that my sealed documents will not
be available for 50 years.

Dr. Oz Offers Neti Pot Pointers

For those that missed the Ophra show with Dr Oz here is his recommendations and illustrated.
And this is really just traditional basic yoga practice in India. Though they can also get cute and use a string in the nostrils aswell.
I would leave that too the yogis.

you might want to combine this method of cleansing as a delivery system for a.... very diluted..... herbal compound if you are experiencing a sinuous or nasal infection.

The herbal that was recommended to me is Friar's Balsam and a few times a day until the infection clears.

Nasopure Organic Nasal Wash

http://www.nasopure.com/index.php
This seems to be a functional improvement over the Neti pot which has been
around long before the Oprha show. Doctor Oz on the show was recently
demonstrating nasal hygiene for the day time audience. You can pick some of
it up by searching Google.

My own interest in this is the nasal and sinus area is where MSRA the super
virus hangs out. And believe me you don't want to get to the point where
you need to be treated with anti biotics for a MRSA related infection.
Apparently, this is on going as a source of serious concern in hospitals,
care centers schools and prisons.

Though it maybe difficult for some of us to even consider that other
cultures have been addressing the bodies air filtering system problems for
some time and yes, even before television and the OTC cold medicines
appeared.
As an example India uses a sterile water flushing procedure (water sniffing)
and so do some cultures in northern Europe.
As is emphasized it is best to use sterile warm water with a small amount of
salt added for flushing.

Maybe considering the procedure as similar to the air conditioning system on
a large building which has a "bank" of bag filters for the circulating
building air and a bank of filters for the "make up air" aswell.
Make up air is the term used to describe the additional air from the
atmosphere which is also filtered as it comes in to the building. And
usually that's about 5 to 10 %.

We don't have the internal filtering system as our air conditioning is a
"one pass system". Our noses have a filter system built in for our sinus and
our lungs well being. And in the world we now live in it is nolonger enough.
Our noses need our help so you may want to consider this method before the
next 'cold' or illness.

It is NOT a painful daily procedure and it does significantly lessen illness
and hopefully MSRA will not have a chance to lodge in the air passages.

Hilary who?

My what a difference a Kennedy can make! or is it two? No, actually it's the
whole clan. Though Hilary is saying some of the 'shirt tails' are still
pitching pennies for her.

When the Democrats took control of Congress their where a few very
significant issues the voters had directed them to address but it's been...
same ole... same ole.
And that was one big mistake on the part of the Democratic Party of wimps.
They continued to be the party without guts and who would not stand up to
the home wrecker's who call themselves the Administration. Remember, THEY
changed the name of the nation to the "Homeland" we sure didn't do it. Maybe
'home on the range' when we got dewy eyed. I had never heard this country
referred to as: The Homeland until the children of Lucifer took over. And of
course Hitler did the same in Germany with Fatherland.

And for the Democrats to collectively roll over and piss on themselves on
the war funding issue and not just once but every time they had an
opportunity. And then saying they where supporting the troops.
Oh yeah, 4000 died and thirty thousand... or more wounded... yeah that's
support. Do you hear anyone in congress saying being blown to small chunks
is a hell of a way to go and that's if you go!
No, the people see them as opportunist and wimps who won't stand up to the
killing machine.

So why would anyone think these same ole, same ole would act differently if
they also took the White House? Since we know they where already purchased
by the corporate weapons manufactures and the Zionist.

The voters in South Carolina and mostly women and black sent up the first
flare in the dawns early light that they where not going there again and
just to make the Clinton's again comfy in the White House. And Caroline
moved on the issue of change as it is now or never if they are going to take
the castle down.

Ted K. is the one who is articulating the strategy of out with the old and
in with the new... but it really came first from Caroline.... in my opinion.
As we all know at this moment this country is in a very fragile period and
dangerous situation.
Significant changes are needed now and again the people know this and it is
not being addressed by most of the candidates or at least those who the
media will even let speak.

So this is probably the first 'national' political sunshine we have seen in
a couple of generations. And at the moment their is the same feeling that
was preseant a few times in our recent past when the nation seemed up
against insurmountable problems because of poor judgement or no judgement
and as well personal greed by the nations 'leaders'.

Will this recent development go anywhere or can they put it quickly back in
the box? We'll we know they will sure try and get the train to hell back on
the tracks but they won't get much help from us the passengers.

And the other ray of bright light is Giuliani is going to get dumped in
Florida. Now of all the strange creatures and some being aliens from a dark
planet who are running on the Republican ballot Rudy is the biggest snake.
Even the N.Y. Times finds him without redemption.

Myself, i found the line up of major party candidates so repulsive I
recently registered as a Republican (born again) so I could vote for
Congressman Ron Paul in the state primary. Paul has something to say and it
makes sense and as well he demonstrates staying power and political courage.
Also he is not owned by a small country in the middle east.

Unfortunately, I doubt my parents are resting easily when the news drifted
in to their realm that I had crossed the border in to purgatory by
registering into the party of organized greed. But I felt if I could do some
destruction by voting for the most hated candidate out their I would have
not wasted my vote. And I'm sure tired of having no choice other than these
owned and operated party hacks and greed machines.

FSO Editorial: "TH*NK*NG (Rogues) by Fred Cederholm 01/27/2008

He makes a good point this theft story seems too pat. What is the purpose of security if not to be aware of what is supposedly being guarded? Put another way the guard towers have one function but bed check is conformation.

Fw: Farm Talk - Plan ahead to avoid fertilizer shortages

I just sent you this message and when i read it over i see a glaring error.
Rather than Potassium please read: Phosphorus. And while I'm at it their is
a ratio for the N, P and K as the quantities needed varies.
I was trying to keep it real simple which i think may have drifted into
simplistic as the soils composition issues are the real bases of all
agriculture.

Farm Talk - Plan ahead to avoid fertilizer shortages

http://www.farmtalknewspaper.com/crops/local_story_022082331.html
This article at first glance may seem obscure and of minimal significance.
But Nitrogen is what lights the growth cycle for plants and it is chemically
extracted from the atmosphere. The fuel (energy) to manufacture 'N' is
natural gas which is becoming expensive and aswell scarce in some growing or
manufacturing areas.

U.S. growers are now using large quantities of imported Nitrogen because of
cost and availability. And even so the first is going up as the other goes
down because of world demand for Nitrogen.

Potassium though not mentioned here is also in limited supply world wide and
is not renewable. We get what we got and that aint allot.

The third in this plant growth troika is Potash and which is both plentiful
and renewable but can't do it alone.

So at some point the choice between mono cropping and diversified organic
agriculture may become mute and for a reason they are not mentioning.
The mono crop corporate farms may run out of gas in the form of manufactured
Nitrogen and or mined Potassium. This could also be because of the material
cost of manufacture and transportation.

And many of these mono grain crops are used to feed animals for people to
then eat. Or for conversion to vehicle fuel as well as manufactured foods
such as corn syrup which is in every thing we eat if it comes in a package
as well as all soda type beverages.
We are walking corn chips if we consider the corn fed beef, chickens and
hogs in our diet. Our national diet is both the ultimate indulgence as well
as disease inducing because of the sugar and fat content.

So when it hits the 'N' wall it will sure improve our health and lessen the
suffering for all "domestic" animals.

And die off! we'll of course we will have some of that too.

Asia Times Online :: Middle East News, Iraq, Iran current affairs

http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/JA24Ak04.html
This is a serious and documented indictment of the primary industry in our
country: the war machine.
He uses facts and figures and he is hardly considered a liberal.

This is what is bring the nation to it's knees; the continual drain of a war
economy.
Their is the national obsession with 'personal consumerism' but this is
insignificant as to what they are extracting by keeping the nation in a
state of war.
Is their a way out? Can we get off the train of national self destruction?
The author doesnt address this though I'm sure he has in his more extensive
writing.
Some economic philosophies clearly define what is produced in an economy
must have a use value. Food, transportation, tool, housing as well as
medicine and education. They all continue to return value to the economy and
the nation.
Weapons of war return nothing as they extract from the nations wealth and
transfer wealth to a small number of people. It is not a consumer product or
a service. It also uses extensive and expensive basic recourses and
employees less workers than other forms of manufacturing. Their is no cost
limitatations so theirs is no economic balance.
My own conclusion is we are obsessed with a national delusion that all
Empires as suseptical too. That the world is the enemy and the only option
for us is to continue to arm and expand.

HHDL on marxism

I am a Marxist monk: Dalai Lama

Express news service, January 19, 2008
Ahmedabad, India -- Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama calls himself a
Marxist monk, because "Marxism is more ethical, unlike capitalism".

At a gathering at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), he
said: "I am a Marxist monk, a Buddhist Marxist. I belong to the Marxist
camp, because unlike capitalism, Marxism is more ethical. Marxism, as an
ideology, takes care of the welfare of its employees and believes in
distribution of wealth among the people of the state."

Delivering a lecture on Ethics and Business, the Tibetan leader-in-exile
said the global economy has created vast economic differences in every
country of the world. "In the absence of ethical handling of money, the
whole community suffer from a sense of insecurity. Exploitation of workers
is maximum in developing countries. There are very high degrees of
exploitation in India and China, similar to the exploitation during
industrialisation of Western countries a century ago," he said.

Ethics, the Dalai Lama said, could be categorised as theistic, non-theistic,
and secular, and need not be based on religious faith.

"In all the three cases, the definition of ethics remains the same. Both
theistic and non-theistic religions advocate love, forgiveness, tolerance
and compassion. Secular ethics, on the other hand, is based on the
realisation of the same ideas on the basis of common sense and individual
experience.

"Trust and openness should be the foundation of business ethics. Even
according to modern scientific research, warm heartedness is important for
the happiness, well-being and health of a person. Consequentially, it forms
a sounds base for a happy society," the Dalai Lama said.

The Automatic Earth

Rate cut!
For some folks who may think helps on the way or the Marines have just landed. We'll this might slow the victory music but it also might save lives at the R-E housing battle front. Cause the slope is greased and we are on the slide how every much they tell us the interest rate cut or the 'checks in the mail' will stop the pain. It's just not the way it works. But decide for yourself and then if you become discouraged you can always watch the business sites on the telly-lie box. They have 24/7 ...happy news.

Fw: Eating Dog Food.....

From: Harold McBride

 Purina Dog Food

The next time someone asks you a dumb question
wouldn't you like to respond like this?....

Yesterday I was buying a large bag of Purina dog
chow for Athena the wonder dog at Wal-Mart and was about to check out.
A woman behind me asked if I had a dog. What did she think I had,
an elephant? So since I'm retired, with little to do,
on impulse, I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, and that I was
starting the Purina Diet again.

Although I probably shouldn't, because I'd ended up
in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.

I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet
and that the way that it works is to load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry and that the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was by now enthralled with my story.)

Horrified , she asked if I ended up in intensive
care because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no; I stepped off a
curb to sniff an Irish Setter's butt and a car hit us
both.

I thought the guy behind her was going to have a
heart attack, he was laughing so hard!

"$500 tax rebate for everyone! (really) " by Brent Harmes, FSU Editorial 01/18/2008

http://www.financialsense.com/fsu/editorials/2008/0118.html
This is a fairly good explanation and description of what they intend to do
for a jump start to the economy.
What they over looked in this description of the quick fix is the Fed will
also lower the Bank rate to somewhere near 3%.
So by summer we will be floating in paper money. Will it work?
We'll it sure will work to create inflation fast and furious. It will be
wild spending with out direction. It's drug money and not national
investment funds.
But for a nation of addicted spenders (consumers) this needle will bring the
color back to the addicts cheeks.
Though to get the golden egg the ultimate price will be high as we should
then have super inflation by the last quarter of 2008. And more bills and no
more or additional jobs for the mindless mobs at the Malls.

This is not going to revive the national housing market nor resolve the loan
problems for the investment banks or change the status of the foreign
balance of payments. And though it is in bad form to mention it. The nation
from Joe nobody to the federal coffers are broke and empty.

And the price of fuel in all forms will continue to increase along with food
prices.

But Dude or Dudette, this may get some of the Home Boys back in the saddle.
Because we must all remember this is a horse opera we are playing in right
here in Dungville and splashing muck on the hero's costume is really bad
form.

Bacteria race ahead of drugs / Falling behind: Deadly infections increasingly able to beat antibiotics

This article in today's Chronicle may interest and even help to some of you . Their are also sub sections to the main article and maybe clicking on the pictures will bring them up. I just read the newspaper version. I considered it from the horses mouth and detailed. And i find it ominous as anti biotic have been around in the pharmaceutical form since the 1940's and as this author points out the bacteria has been functioning for 3.5 billion years. And with us having a history of about 2 million years we must look to be tender and tasty to the bacteria. And i believe he described bacteria as smarter than us. But then what isn't since few forms of life also eat themselves.   My concern is we are also going into climate change which means higher ambient temperatures which virus and bacteria can find to their advantage. Lovelock points out climate change effects are not just limited to the weather.   So for those who might  think the pharmaceutical companies have or will have a product and soon to combat these new viruses this article doesnt seem to find this to be the case.   The two nurses who i have talked with are pessimistic about successfully treating MRSA let alone the even more advanced forms of the virus.   The nurse from England with allot of training in Asia has gone back to herbs and allot of sanitation.

Valley jobless rates climb

By Jeff St. John / The Fresno Bee

Unemployment jumped to three-year highs across the central San Joaquin Valley in December, new statistics show -- just as economists worried that the region may be leading the country into recession.
Fresno County unemployment rose to 9.9% in December, up from 8% in December 2006, the state Employment Development Department reported Friday. That marks the highest December level since 2004, when the jobless rate was 10.3%.
The poor jobs picture was echoed in Kings, Merced and Tulare counties, all of which posted double-digit unemployment rates also not matched since 2004, the department reported.
And California as a whole saw jobless rates climb to a seasonally adjusted rate of 6.1% in December, up from 4.8% in December 2006 and the worst showing since September 2003.
The state's economic picture was severe enough to prompt Gov. Schwarzenegger on Friday to ask state agencies and departments to speed the release of $29 billion in unallocated funds from the 2006 infrastructure bonds, as well as about $500 million authorized for roads and levee projects.
"Speeding up construction of roads, schools and levee repairs will help our economy continue to grow and keep more people working," Schwarzenegger said.
Nationwide, job growth has stalled and unemployment climbed in recent months as the bursting housing bubble and meltdown in the subprime mortgage and credit markets have forced economists and politicians to consider ways to combat what may be the start of a nationwide recession.
But December's jobless numbers indicate that the Central Valley, home to some of the cities worst hit by the housing foreclosure crisis, may already be in recession, said Sharmila King, economics professor at University of the Pacific in Stockton.
"With housing, you can say that the Central Valley is the epicenter of the problem, and that's reverberating across the economy," King said.
"We're quite literally on the brink of a recession -- if not in a recession already -- in the Central Valley."
That worry has been echoed by such figures as John Stumpf, president of Wells Fargo & Co., and Steve Cochrane, senior managing director of Moodys.com.
Both said in recent months that the Central Valley may be entering a recession, officially defined as two consecutive quarters of economic contraction.
Lauren Addison of Clovis was laid off in October from her job as an administrative assistant at an engineering firm.
And she said Friday that she was an escrow officer for 17 years before that, but can't fall back on that job right now.
"I'm about out of money," she said. "It's tough out there."
Max Terronez of Fresno estimated he has sent out 80 resumes since he was laid off Nov. 2.
He sold radio ads for Clear Channel Communications Inc.
"It's been a difficult, long haul in Fresno," he said.
With fewer new homes come fewer jobs -- a particularly hard hit to the Valley, where construction jobs helped drive regional unemployment rates to decades-long lows in 2005 and 2006.
In Fresno County, construction employment has remained flat over the past 12 months.
Over the same time, Tulare County has lost 400 construction jobs, a 5% decline, and Madera and Kings counties also have seen construction job losses.
While Fresno hasn't suffered as badly from the housing downturn and wave of foreclosures as cities like Stockton, Modesto and Sacramento, it still has seen home prices fall at a rate of about 1% per month over the last year, and Fresno is No. 14 on the list of American cities with the highest rates of foreclosures per capita.
That also has led to layoffs in the real estate and mortgage lending industries, all part of professional and business services.
In those sectors, job growth has stalled in Fresno and Madera counties and fallen steeply in Tulare County since December 2006.
King warned that, because home building and related financial services have been a key economic growth engine, their breakdown is likely to hurt the region more than others less dependent on the housing market.
"The whole subprime mortgage crisis is already starting to spread," she said. "If you get laid off from work, you won't have income, and that will spin over to the retail area. The next problem would be job losses in retail trade."
California as a whole has seen retail employment fall from 2006 to 2007 at a rate exceeded only by the even harder-hit finance and construction sectors.
So far, that weakness hasn't shown up in Fresno County, where retailers added 1,300 jobs, an increase of 3.6%, between December 2006 and last month.
But in Tulare County, retailers marked a loss of 300 retail jobs, down 1.8%, in the same period.
And Pam Lasseter, assistant director of the Fresno County Workforce Investment Board, said it's likely that consumers faced with stagnant wages and rising prices of food and gasoline will find it harder to keep up the spending needed to keep the retail sector growing.
"The man on the street says he can't afford the price of gas ... the price of food going up," she said. Across the country, consumer prices rose in 2007 at the fastest rate in 17 years, driven by rising food and gasoline prices.
At the same time, the earnings of the median U.S. worker fell 0.9% in 2007 when adjusted for inflation, the fourth loss of earning power recorded in the past five years, as the richest Americans continue to capture almost all of the gains of the most recent economic expansion.
"If they can't afford to buy, that's putting pressure on retailers," Lasseter said. "What can they do? They have to lay off people."
California's overall economic picture is further clouded by a state budget shortfall estimated at $14 billion, as the bursting housing market has reduced tax revenues. Schwarzenegger has proposed across-the-board cuts to state services such as schools and prisons -- worrisome to a Central Valley where government makes up a substantial and fast-growing portion of the employment base.
"That's going to be a concern for local governments," King said. "Still, education is somewhat insulated from a recession. Kids still need to go to school."
At the national level, President Bush urged Congress to pass about $145 billion in tax relief and other incentives aimed at putting money in consumers' pockets and bolstering the weakening economy.

"$500 tax rebate for everyone! (really) " by Brent Harmes, FSU Editorial 01/18/2008

Thank the what ever's we are going to be saved again and just in time.

Now this is political and economic brilliance so we can be sure our great
leader had his foot in it.
It seems that by just using their magic wand they have created money from
??? we'll lets use air as the substance.
And you remember those checks we would get in the mail from Publishers
Clearing House? The smallest was usually in the $10,000 range.
We'll apparently they are now working for the U.S. Treasury to make us all
rich and one fat check at a time.
Though this article doesnt mention what magazine we will need to subscribe
too to cash the Federal Treasury check. It maybe Hustler, I like the title
and it seems it clearly describes our current situation.

Ron Paul looks better all the time. And since they the Democrats and
Republicans seem to hate him he must be real and with allot to say.

Jan 18, 2008 The Financial Tsunami Part II: The Financial Foundations of the American Century F. William Engdahl 321gold

http://www.321gold.com/editorials/engdahl/engdahl011808.html

From my own reading and recall of bits and pieces of American political and
economic history this is a accurate summary.
what most folks don't grasp is their is a ruling class that fostered a
economic plan in this country from day one.
This article describes what was the plan and what happened and who where the
planners since just before WWII.

It will be difficult for many people to accept that our economy and in turn
our lives are manipulated by a very few powerful people.
And what is happening now and will happen shortly was not part of their
grand plan.

I'm referring to the transfer of the national wealth to Asia and the middle
east.

Merrill posts worst quarter in its history | Reuters

Now this is begging to sound like real money at least in numbers. Though my understanding is the 'Citizens of the Empire' are experiencing somewhere between a 6.8 to 11.7% inflation effect.   And dear citizens it is seriously predicted to get much worse as anything of any value is being vacuumed up by the SWF (Sovereign Wealth Funds) which are fronts for the worlds wealthy countries such as China, Japan and the middle east Freedom and Democracy nations. Oh, you didn't know about those we'll KSA and Kuwait are two of the leaders. And you know all those stick on American flags which we seem to affix to everything including the toilet seat lid. We'll get ready for the great flag of the New Empire which will soon be announced. These new flags will not be imports from child slave shops in China. Our kids will be making them for both export and domestic consumption. We are going to be born again just like the bible thumpers have been telling us. We will become the trinket makers for the world. Our day of glory is again coming.    But anyway, how did we get here? Try... out sourcing.... by the American corporations and of all manufacturing and now services. They made a bundle doing it but now they are being eaten aswell as fast food. Do you think those major investment banks which are being bought by princes in the middle east or SWF in Asia will some day again be controlled by our very own benevolent ruling class? If the answer is: Yes, you may want to try drugs for the problem before you begin to hear voices as well.    The Real Estate industry is not just taking a little nap it is dead in the water and sinking to the bottom so it can have it's rotting corpse picked clean. How about 50% on the dollar? Too high we'll maybe you are right.   And will the government and the Fed intervene? Of course...But not for us fellow citizen.   We are told it's safe to talk about our concern about 'border issues' and they will even build fences for the six o'clock news. And why not? Halliburton has to have something to do between wars. And for some reason that fence is very reassuring to allot of folks. It's like they are going to get their job back. You know the one that got out-sourced to Mexico or China. And no it wasn't the job the illegal was doing. But we can see the wet back cleaning the motel but we can't see the Asians who now hold the purse strings and could care less about the six o'clock news or "wet backs". And yes, truckers can now drive from Canada to and through Mexico. And their is a new form of paper money also being proposed as they soon will consolidate the new Empire for the new rulers. Do we hear any warning from the left or right politicians? We'll not many though Ron Paul has a fondness for quoting the Constitution and reality. I don't think they will tolerate him for long unless he tones it way down.   So school prayer and the drug fiends along with the right to bear arms (until the government confiscates them and which they will.) are all safe subjects since they don't challenge the rulers and it keeps us busy chasing our tails. And that is definitely not a reference to the rulers seeing us as dogs. We are viewed from the top of the cage as rodents..like in lab rats.    Cash was the advice from the past for situations like this but not even cash is a safe haven with these current inflation numbers.Try municipal bonds! Have you seen a municipality recently you would like to make a loan too. Buying into a tobacco company was always good in hard times but even the smokies are now going up in smoke. Brewery stock has still got a head on it. You are getting... it. this is not going to be a recession this will be depression and people on the street are far more malleable when they have lost it all. They may grumble but they will continue to want to eat.   So what are the possible real options? If it's paying for it's self ...hang on to it. It will continue to depreciate but if it generates any money it's better than upside down and walk away or funds that are loosing value because of inflation.   Also going to the Mall to worship and pray is very acceptable and comforting. Especially if the car was not broken into while we are having that spiritual experience. Also check the fountain at the Mall as sometimes the children find it rewarding wading out in the holy waters for the pennies. Get pictures on the cell for Grandma she also wants the best for the children.   Precious metal will continue to appreciate. But since we have not been told this on the business channel most folks will not be going there until gold goes up another $500 oz. And which it will because the dollar is dieing and blood transfusion will not save it.

S.F. gay community an epicenter for new strain of virulent staph

http://www.sfgate.com/flat/archive/2008/01/15/chronicle/archive/2008/01/15/MNI5UE0L8.html?tsp=1
From this article the epic center maybe the Castro district but the ER's and
IC's in hospitals are now becoming the hot beds.
The Reuters article points out that this has hit the general population out
side of hospitals and the drugs of choice... anti biotic are either limited
in effect or very marginally effective. This is killing people and we should
not be expecting another wonder cure to appear.

For prevention just plain soap and water knocks it way down.
It is inclined to lodge in the nostrils so not touching the nose would seem
prudent.

And what they are NOT saying is that all of these virus diseases will
multiply with an increase in the global temperature.

I have also talked with two nurses who are both very knowledgeable regarding
MRSA though somewhat from different vantage points due to their own
experiences.

One nurse has worked a very busy ER in San Jose and seen lots of it come in.
Drug users are very subseptical and he contacted MRSA himself from the ER
exposure.
The treatment for him was a course of anti biotic, a nostril suave and soap
and water.

The other nurse had also worked in Asia and is very seasoned concerning
infections and was now inclined to use specific alternatives.
Right off she stated that Singapore high end medicine is using sophisticated
flushing of the nose and even sinus as needed. For the sinus it takes a
skilled physician and is done in some specialist practices. This is
expensive and she is not seeing it here in the U.S. because she assumes the
cost and the physicians are not trained in the procedure though for the
sinus it is very effective.

They also use a steam inhalant called Friars Balsam in very hot water twice
a day.
And the last though not usually used just alone is a flushing of the
nostrils with a weak warm saline solution.
One pt sterile (boiled 3 mins) water and one tsp salt. This is poured into
the hand which of course is washed. and then sniffed into the nostrils a few
times a day.

The last two take no skill and the first is usually done by an ear, eye and
nose specialist with some sedation for the patient. They flush with just a
saline solution.

Results are apparently achieved with this approach. Though they are also
still using anti biotic but the results are diminishing because they are
becoming less effective.

She emphasized that cleanliness was important but also she didn't think the
OTC anti bacterial hand or household cleansers was the way to go since this
also killed all the good bacteria aswell.

If this is the wave of the future i think reading this know maybe of
significance. Friars Balsam which is a brand name for a very effective herb
or root preparation is available in the U.S. and a bottle on the shelf
seems prudent.

Though this is not mentioned in the news articles MRSA can be painful and is
generally debilitating.

This maybe the point where people begin to get it.
The financial problems are of a enormous magnitude and apparently
indefinable regarding timeline or parameters.

What's happening with Countrywide or Citigroup are symptoms that are now
(still) coming to the surface. The causes are far deeper and far more
significant. And of course all of this has been revealed to the insiders
some time ago. But since we like to be spoon feed here is the portion for
today.
Try derivatives (which Buffet called: sewage) if a name is needed and try
and find an analysis as to when these will be under control. I don't believe
there is one because they will eventually take the financial system out.
Is everyone going to be losers? The world money controllers will come out on
top as for them this will seen as consolidation.

Fw: water

Subject: Fw: water

This is far more than you could learn than if you went to the state water
resource site.
The significance of southern sierra and San Joaquin valley water/snow pack
reports is this is what 'waters' the food crops and then sends it on to our
friends in S. California.
Also, please note this is far to early to predict a state water profile for
this year.

There's good news, bad news about Valley weather
Recent winter storms have doubled the snowpack in the Sierra, easing drought
anxieties. But experts say, 'We've still got a long way to go.'
By Mark Grossi / The Fresno Bee
01/12/08 22:34:58

Three blizzards in the Sierra Nevada have put the San Joaquin Valley's water
worries on ice -- for now.
The storm siege over the first weekend of the year doubled the snowpack.
East of Fresno, Blackcap Basin got 80 inches of snow at 10,500 feet, for
example.
But the snowpack must double again by April 1 to fill reservoirs and fully
supply farms, cities, industries and hydroelectric plants this summer.
Snowmelt provides more than half of California's water supply.
In the San Joaquin Valley -- one of the nation's most lucrative farming
belts -- irrigation officials religiously track reservoir storage and
snowfall totals on a state Web site. The big boost in precipitation has not
lulled them.
"We've still got a long way to go," said Steve Haugen, watermaster of the
Kings River Water Association, which tracks water conditions for farms and
cities in a 1 million-acre swath of Fresno, Kings and Tulare counties.
The National Weather Service is not forecasting storms in Central California
over the next several days.
A familiar dry pattern with night and morning fog is emerging.
In Fresno, the rainfall total is 4.22 inches for the season, well beyond the
1.73 inches at this time last year. The city's rainfall total is 105% of
average for this point in the season.
Out in farm country, it's the time of year when growers get crop loans and
plan their spring and summer operations.
Irrigation forecasts are at the core of their plans.
"Overall, the precipitation has been good this month," said Steve Chedester,
executive director of the San Joaquin River Exchange Contractors Authority,
representing owners of 240,000 farmland acres on the Valley's west side.
"But if we get a few more big storms, we'll be a lot better."
Chedester and many other west siders watch reservoir and snowfall totals for
the northern Sierra. About 1.2 million acres of the west side are irrigated
with water from more than 100 miles away.
The water is pumped from the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. To protect
dwindling fish species in the delta, federal authorities since the 1990s
have restricted water exports to some west side farmland.
A recent court decision probably will cause additional cutbacks for those
farms. The 600,000-acre Westlands Water District in Fresno and Kings
counties is affected by those cutbacks.
Those farmers can expect only 30% to 55% of their allotments this year, said
Dan Nelson, executive director of the San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water
Authority, which represents Westlands and others in the area.
That means many will be shopping for more supplies from districts that have
extra river water. If the storms keep coming, there's a better chance to
find water at affordable prices.
"Yes, it's good to see the precipitation," Nelson said. "More precipitation
gets you more options for water transfers.
"We have been limited by regulatory cutbacks for more than 15 years, and it
appears there could be even more cutbacks this year. So we need other
options."
On the east side of the Valley, many farmers rely on water from the San
Joaquin River at Millerton Lake, which now holds about 68% of its average
storage for January.
Last January, Millerton was nearly 85% of average. One reason is that there
was more water left over from the previous wet season.
The story is the same for many Sierra reservoirs. In Northern California,
Shasta had 110% of average storage last January. This year, it is 66%.
The reservoirs are lower now because the statewide snowpack was only 45% of
average last April, said Maurice Roos, chief hydrologist for the California
Department of Water Resources in Sacramento. There wasn't much left at the
end of the summer.
"The precipitation is doing much better than last year," Roos said. "But
reservoirs statewide are still about 20% lower."
The extra room in reservoirs will allow damtenders to capture a big snow
runoff this spring, thus preventing possible flooding or release of excess
water to the Pacific Ocean.

Fw: FS Editorial:Â "$53 Trillion and Growing" by James Turk 01/09/2008

A forwarded msg that i doubt many out their will be surprise by.

Though i believe the significance is that people continue to believe this
will not impact on them. And if it does it will be less for some than
others. The conclusion being we will just have too muddle through.
Don't count on it as their is really no one below us from the perspectives
of the rulers.
We are all the same for those looking down on us from the top and we should
expect equal lack of concern or consideration.

Maybe it's time i sent out some Ron Paul for President literature.
My current thinking is the best vote is the vote that's the most effective
in opposing the rulers and the reactionaries.
And for me that description includes the corporate world of investment
bankers and arms manufactures along with the pharmaceutical corporation and
the hospital (health care) corporations. Yes, the incorporated national
blood suckers.

So if i don't want to vote for a candidate who has supported the wars and
aswell the Zionist...and yet has the..... slightest chance of being heard in
the media black out i will pick Ron Paul who is a Republican congressman
from Texas.
Protest vote! when hasn't it been a protest vote to the prevailing insanity?
And as to the argument "we can change from within" and usually referring to
the Democratic party since it had more fractions. Both the Democrat's and
the Republican parties are now controlled by the corporations and the
lobbyist and of course Zionist money. You have heard the statement follow
the money.
If their is going tobe any change in the future ..for the better it can only
come from maverick's such as Paul who are not indebted to the Party leaders
and their purses.
Independents or third party candidates have the chance of the snow flake in
the desert.
Today with the issues of climate change, peak oil, an acknowledged
collapsing economy and the likelihood of marshal law as a response doesnt
leave us with undefined options. We no longer have the slack to be casual in
who we support.
Sound government with sound money and the bill of Rights is what we need to
advocate and support.
Ron Paul has that position and has had it for all the many effective years
he has been in congress.

Your question might be is this actually possible?
We'll my response is corporate fascism is very possible and we will all be
invited to the barbeque if that happens. So yes, Paul becoming the
Republican candidate and consolidating the voters for sound issues is very
possible.
Will they let it happen? Not with out one big fight which i think we would
all enjoy winning.

Trailers and Music | What a Way to Go: Life at the End of Empire

Just so we all know it is out their....This is the environmental gold
standard DVD and the rest will emanate from here.
http://www.whatawaytogomovie.com/trailers/
I guess for me it is the DVD version of James Lovelocks significant global
conclusions. It offers little hope that I was able to determine but it is
frank and accurate from what i can determine from reading this subject and
which is really not 'climate change'. That's what we like to tag it as or so
i have determined. Climate change is and indication of gradual change and
not indicating mass life extinction.
What we are experiencing is mass extinction of most life forms within one or
two life times.

And for anyone who has really looked at what is happening to the earth at
this time it would be very hard to conclude that anything other than the
extinction of most life forms on the surface of the earth is now taking
place. And to clarify that even further; everyone living today will probable
die much sooner from these effects than would be considered a normal life
cycle.
That was repetitive but it is a hell of a message to even consider.

The disadvantage of this DVD is it's cost ($24) since this was not
foundation funded and as well really not a subject that people want to pay
to see or even hear about.
We'll do you? It surely doesnt give me any pleasure to see it all crumbling
before my eyes or consider myself in the last generation of a failed species
who also took every thing living along with them.
It maybe possible to view this DVD at a local collage or environmental group
showing. Why bother? you might say. We'll consider the complexity of the
destruction and as well the option of considering the time table if that is
possible.
It is all feed back loops in a closed system from what i could determine.
But especially if you happen to be a parent that is the parents
responsibility from my view point.

R-E prices

I was just talking to a mortgage broker with twenty years in the local businesses.
Yeah, it is difficult locally for sellers with prices down 10%. But the neighboring small city of Watsonville and which is predominately Latino the prices are off by 40% and still falling.
That means the market is locking up and anyone needing to sell for the usual or because they can not pay the new mortgage adjusted rate will be going under.
So this isn't the second home, speculators or flippers. These are the working poor getting the boot.

Some good pictures of houses and cars and which will be for some boomers
nostalgia shots.
What is not emphasized in this article is too even achieve the fragile
transition the author is proposing the dollar would have to maintain (some)
credibility in the world financial markets.
I don't believe this is likely as the value of the dollar is no longer
determined by the U.S. treasury but by the foreign holders of dollars.
When they are lending it back to us they have the leverage to the decide
terms and even value. How do they do this? By setting the interest rate is
the most direct.
And what will transpire is one of those countries will get ahead of the
others and that will start the dollar fall.
Then dear friends our even dearer foreign friends will just start to eat us
alive. What's that ole phrase: I smell the blood of and American?
And even foreigners can learn to like junk food.

The dollar is fake... they know it... we know it... and everyone is waiting
for someone to trip while pushing a wheel barrow of our phony green and the
whole make believe parade will end when no one bothers to pick them up.

People i think could accept the world hated the U.S. and has for some time.
But they also had fear of the U.S. because of it's aggressiveness and it's
finacial power. The loss of financial power has swiftly changed that fear to
contempt. Our flag around the world has lost it's status as a standard of
hope for many people and is seen as a target of hatred and contempt.

Oh yeah, this is just a little glitch (CFC) is now experincing.... like a bullet in the brain.

lil family story

Recently talking with a women who is of fifth generation English decent
though born in Pakistan and trained in the medical field..

she told me an interesting story that while working in Afghan refugee camps
she would sometimes be asked to document the refugees stories.

One refugee women in her forties told her a story of her family.
The family lived in the mountains and alone with their sheep or goats.
And seasonally they had a very small mud hut and no other building. Their
was a small tree near by where they would go and sit to eat.

One day she took the meal for them to eat under the tree and the family
stayed for a moment longer in the hut. A few children and just the father.
She was facing away from the hut and laying the meal on a ground cloth.
When she turned back the hut had disappeared into smoke their was nothing.
She never heard a plane or a shell coming it along with her family just
vaporized in the explosion.

She is the only one left from her small immediate family.

Apparently it was a high flying unmanned craft which fired a missile. The
U.S. was just cleaning up all the little buildings out in the mountains and
the family along with others was collateral damage.
It was not a mistake on the part of the U.S. military it is just something
'that had to be done' and they would rather not talk about.
But I'm sure you won't tell them i mentioned it.

Healthy Living Probably Gives You 10 More Years, Study

http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/93347.php
We'll we all figure this out at some point though that doesn't mean we
implement... any of it.
Even the one option that would take the least effort just eating fruit and
vegetables can be a real drag for some folks that are imbedded in
starch,cheese and sugar.
But we have to encourage each other to continue to try.
If those extra years they refer to where seen rather as the years we rob our
selves from maybe it would be a more effective as a personal argument.
So for those trying stay with it.

Subject: Winter - gotta love it!

   December 8     6:00 P
It started to snow. The first snow of the season and
the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by
the window watching the huge soft flakes drift down
from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses print. So
romantic we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow!

   December 9
We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow
covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic
sight! Can there be a more lovely place in
the whole world? Moving here was the best idea I've
   ever had!
Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a
boy again. I did both our driveway and the sidewalks.
This afternoon the snowplow came along and covered
up the sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got
to shovel again. What a perfect life!

   December 12
The sun has melted all our lovely snow. Such a
disappointment! My neighbor tells me not to worry-
we'll definitely have a white Christmas.  No snow on
Christmas would be awful! Bob says we'll have so
much snow by the end of winter, that I'll never want to
see snow again. I don't think that's possible. Bob is
such a nice man, I'm glad he's our neighbor.

   December 14
Snow, lovely snow! 8 inches last night. The
temperature dropped to -20.  The cold makes
everything sparkle so. The wind took my breath away, but I warmed
up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. This is
the life!  The snowplow came back this afternoon and
   buried everything again. I didn't
realize I would have to do quite this much shoveling,
but I'll certainly get back in shape this way. I wish
I wouldn't huff and puff so.

   December 15
20 inches forecast. Sold my van and bought a 4x4
Blazer. Bought snow tires for the wife's car and 2
extra shovels. Stocked the freezer. The wife wants
a wood stove in case the electricity goes out. I think
that's silly. We aren't in Alaska , after all.

   December 16
Ice storm this morning. Fell on my ass on the ice in
the driveway putting down salt. Hurt like hell. The
wife laughed for an hour, which I think was very
   cruel.

   December 17
Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go
anywhere. Electricity was off for 5 hours. I had to
pile the blankets on to stay warm. Nothing to do but
stare at the wife and try not to irritate her. Guess I
should've bought a wood stove, but won't admit it to
her. God I hate it when she's right. I can't believe
I'm freezing to death in my own livingroom.

   December 20
Electricity is back on, but had another 14 inches of
the damn stuff last night. More shoveling! Took all
day. The damn snowplow came by twice.
Tried to find a neighbor kid to shovel, but they said
they're too busy playing hockey. I think they're
   lying.
Called the only hardware store around to see about
buying a snow blower and they're out. Might have
another shipment in March. I think they're lying. Bob
says I have to shovel or the city will have it done
and bill me. I think he's lying.
   December 22
Bob was right about a white Christmas because 13 more
inches of the white shit fell today, and it's so cold,
it probably won't melt till August. Took me 45 minutes
to get all dressed up to go out to shovel and then I
had to piss. By the time I got undressed, pissed and
dressed again. I was too tired to shovel. Tried to
hire Bob who has a plow on his truck for the rest of
the winter, but he says he's too busy. I think the
   asshole is lying.

   December 23
Only 2 inches of snow today. And it warmed up to 0.
The wife wanted me to decorate the front of the house
this morning. What is she, nuts?!!
Why didn't she tell me to do that a month ago? She
says she did but I think she's lying.

   December 24
6 inches - Snow packed so hard by snowplow, I broke
the shovel. Thought I was having a heart attack. If I
ever catch the son of a bitch who drives that snow
plow, I'll drag him through the snow by his balls and
beat him to death with my broken shovel. I know he
hides around the corner and waits for me to finish
shoveling and then he comes down the street at a 100
miles an hour and throws snow all over where I've just
been! Tonight the wife wanted me to sing Christmas
carols with her and open our presents, but I was too
busy watching for the damn snowplow.

   December 25
Merry f---ing Christmas! 20 more inches of the damn
   slop tonight - Snowed in
The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. God, I hate
   the snow!
Then the snowplow driver came by asking for a donation
and I hit him over the head with my shovel. The wife
   says I have a bad attitude. I think she's a  fricking
idiot. If I have to watch "It's A Wonderful Life" one
more time, I'm going to stuff her into the microwave.

   December 26
Still snowed in. Why the hell did I ever move here? It
   was all HER idea.
She's really getting on my nerves.

   December 27
   Temperature dropped to -30 and the pipes froze;
plumber came after 14 hours of waiting for him, he
only charged me $1,400 to replace all my pipes.

   December 28
Warmed up to above -20. Still snowed in. The BITCH is
   driving me crazy!!!

   December 29
10 more inches. Bob says I have to shovel the roof or
it could cave in. That's the silliest thing I ever
heard. How dumb does he think I am?

   December 30
Roof caved in. I beat up the snow plow driver, and now
he is suing me for a million dollars, not only for the
beating I gave him, but also for trying to shove the
broken snow shovel up his ass. The wife went home to
   her mother.
   Nine more inches predicted.

   December 31
I set fire to what's left of the house. No more
   shoveling.

   January 8
Feel so good. I just love those little white pills
they keep giving me. Why am I tied to the bed?

FSU Editorial: "Gold & Silver: Gold Up in Price Against all Paper Currency" by Douglas Gnazzo 01/07/2008

Brothers and Sisters, it's Boomer time, though in actuality it's really
Boomer ..time out. And starting this year all those dreams and allusions are
soon going to be ..tested.
http://www.financialsense.com/fsu/editorials/gnazzo/2008/0107.html
The problem for the Boomers is they believed their own myths. That this time
with them it would be different and that the horn of plenty had wheels and
they where just going to pull it along with them..in to the sunset... of
magazine land.
Sunset, is the VERY unacknowledged but accepted Boomer bible. oh no! well
why is it on the liv. rm table or the actual reading room of all Boomers
dwellings?

Most Boomers don't have diddly and some know and some will soon be finding
out. Retirement planners where also Boomers and planned from the economics'
of their early years. The years before the factories all rusted and the jobs
went to former rice fields.
Boomers love mutual funds and any form of group investment as it's so
confirming.

Which means (if you don't get it) no one is going tobe paying into the funds
for those who are now entitled to sit on their duffs. The funds are going
broke from buying such as muni bonds and bundled mortgages or housing
industry stock. Everything is now considered well below loan rating and that
translates as a high interest rating.
I understand the stock market has now been designated as being in Bear land.
Go to just Google business news, and you will notice heads are being lopped
from the Gods of money. If those guys are suffering you can be sure the
friggen boomers are going to be made to feel pain aswell. For who loves a
Boomer? And especially a spoilt and broke boomer.

And a certain percentage of the Duffers (if i may, and u better get used to
it cause boomers u are no more) decided during the plastic real estate
market bubble to take a little cash back and buy the boat and second home
early. "Hey, we worked hard and we deserve it and the kids will thank us
later".

OK, all the above is or has now melted in to a plastic pile on the floor and
the money is not coming back and now the CPI is going way up and the
investments where all a fake and who wants a boat to drag behind the fucking
gas guzzler? Or the house in suburbia which is know up side down that they
planned to sell for the mythical million?

Yes, what's a boy or girl to do? Especially, since they both now need meds
to keep going.... like mowing the lawn and which they both now hate.

Larry, Do you have a point? Jesus, you are a drag!  We'll How about this for
starters! You aint seen nothing yet. Just wait until they start shoveling
all that 'stuff' in the direction of the fan.

We have just started on the trail back to a place we have forgotten ever
existed. It was called hard times and the name still seems suitable and
descriptive too me.
So if you can sell anything and down size and their is room in the door
way.. i suggest that is where you want to be going.
Tangibles.... is what will be needed and a car on a truck body or house full
of trinkets is just another house full of trinkets.

And for that part time job to make ends meet try renting near by and see if
you can also rent the suburban white elephant to a family of fire bugs.
"Officer, they told us they where born again Christian and they where
lighting those candles for our black as night souls."
We'll you will have to say something if you want to get the insurance money.

Fw: hmmmm

This maybe confirming for those who have walked the circle around the Dharma
a few times.
Eventually, it seems the only thing a Buddhist can spiritually achieve is
just living it in a space of no practice.

A debate dream:

Moderator: Governor, some voters have expressed concern about your faith.
How would you respond to them?

Former Gov. Mitt Dharma: I want to assure the American public that while my
religion will never interfere with the performance of my office, I am a true
Buddhist. I believe that life is suffering, that suffering is caused by
desire and that it is possible to eliminate desire and suffering and thus
achieve nirvana. My fellow Buddhists can rest assured that I am one of them.

Former Gov. Mike Anapanasati: I'd like to say that I respect Gov. Dharma and
his beliefs, whatever they may be. Far be it from me to question another
man's Buddhism. But let me just say that I have spent my life trying to
follow the eightfold path. I believe the American people are looking for a
mindful and meditative leader. I am mindful; I am meditative; and I believe
I can lead this contemplative nation into a great future.

Former Sen. Fred Koan: For myself, I don't apologize for my relationship
with the Buddha or the bodhisattvas. I don't apologize for my daily
meditation practice. I'm all right with the Dalai Lama and the Dalai Lama's
all right with me, as far as I know.

Moderator: Could you discuss the differences between your religious beliefs?

Gov. Dharma: My opponents have tried to paint themselves as better Buddhists
than I. But I have striven all my life to conquer ambition and desire. I
want nothing. There is no one who wants nothing more than I do, and I think
the American people know that.

Gov. Anapanasati: Excuse me, but I take exception. The fact is, as the
American people know, that I want nothing more than anyone in this race. I
am proud to want nothing, and I can say without hesitation that I have spent
my entire life wanting nothing.

Moderator: Don't you want to be president?

Gov. Anapanasati: Yes, but in a contemplative way that in no way detracts
from my Buddhist beliefs.

Sen. Koan: I think it's clear that you can want something and still be
committed to a life of not wanting anything. The question here is which
candidate is most likely to transcend the cycle of birth and death. And I
think it's clear to the American people which candidate that is.

Moderator: Are you saying, senator, that you are going to transcend the
cycle of birth and death?

Sen. Koan: That is my intention.

Moderator: Gov. Dharma? Do you intend to transcend the cycle of birth and
death?

Gov. Dharma: I do, with all my heart. And yet without actually desiring it,
because, as I say, I am a true Buddhist, and desire is the cause of all
suffering.

Gov. Anapanasati: I think it's for the American people to decide which
candidate will transcend the cycle of birth and death, as I was saying to
Richard Gere the other day.

Moderator: More voters are questioning candidates' spiritual practices. Can
each of you answer the question – do you meditate?

Sen. Koan: Every day.

Gov. Anapanasati: Yes, but in a full lotus position? I meditate twice a day
in a lotus position.

Gov. Dharma: I have to question whether the other candidates really empty
their minds. I think the American people are looking for a president who can
empty his mind completely. And I am proud to say that when I meditate, you
can hear crickets.

Moderator: May I ask each of you, have you achieved enlightenment?

Sen. Koan: Absolutely. I am completely enlightened, and I'm not ashamed to
say it.

Gov. Anapanasati: I achieved enlightenment early in life, and have been
steadfast in my enlightenment ever since.

Gov. Dharma: With all due respect for my worthy opponents, I have achieved
perfect enlightenment in which all dualities have fused and ceased to exist
as separate entities. I am every bit as Buddhist as the other candidates. I
think the American people know genuine Buddhism when they see it, and I
think they know that our shared beliefs make me ideally suited for the
presidency. Although, of course, I don't really want it.

Moderator: Thank you. And now can you each answer the following question:
What is the sound of one candidate losing?

Sen. Koan, we'll start with you.
