For some this may be all new ground and this is one of those long essay's
that seems to become more interesting the more one reads.

And i appreciated the authors emphasis that the collapse of this the Western
Empire will be far more brutal than the Soviet collapse.
Also what he is aware of though is not emphasizing here is this is also a
'peak oil industrial nation' collapse in our case. What does that mean? My
definition as to effect is: It could be sudden once it starts.
It's the little problem which we have with a national electrical grid tied
to a petroleum based source. And far more complex than even that cryptic
definition.
And our own other significant weakness is this is a financial based economy.
Or maybe in economics defined as: Capitalist. And to make it worse our money
is from the game board: monopoly. It's completely make believe. Great if all
the kids believe they are trading with: 'money'.
These systems do not weather well for people with the exception of the very
few at the top who usually have left the scene of the disaster.
You may want to read it in two parts. But i really believe you want to read
it or at least dip into it to get the flavor of the future.
One last area not considered and i think should have at least been mentioned
is the inevitable break up of the U.S.
We have no wolves on our borders and the name of the game has been Empire
expansion. End of game...I know that was not America at it's best.
What's coming is probably not the external enemy but the continental united
states inability to sustain.
Their will probably be a few choices as too how this could go but i would
favor the regional breakup as the most likely. Mountain ranges make good
fences. So the borders will run north to south and the regions will be five
or six after the dust settles.
So once you look at peak oil, then shrinking economy and shrinking empire we
are left with shrinking resources and large costal population clusters.
Right, A geographic modified China with out the culture or functional food
production system/. And I'm referring to an 'after culture' that doesn't
have the nitrogen production from a petroleum induced process to grow
surplus food to feed animals to then be eaten.
