Charlie's subject title remark as well as Keith's own reservations are
stated as "interesting" and need to be considered and investigated. And
their are a couple of other "cool the earth" proposals floating around out
there. Even Dr Teller had one which sounds as good as these proposals to me.
But, the worlds grain supplies are now about at half a month and i suspect
that is optimistic. And aswell and just keeping it real simple the oceans
are turning acid as we breath.
Neither one of these 'problems' are in the category of possibly being
reversed within a definable time period. Or at least from my reading no one
is giving hot shot theories as possible solutions.
And the spraying the oceans with iron particles is proposed as a CO2
response and not a direct solutions to the dramatic change in the oceans PH
to acid.
It's not complicated to understand we are comforted with peak oil, a world
population explosion and drought or climate change in all the grain growing
areas of the world.
Petroleum is producing grains for about 2 billion people world wide and
though we are on the top of the food chain... if i may. We are also the most
dependent on petroleum derived nitrogen for grain production.
So it's possible that it will be us through the trap door first.
Also, neither of these 'problems' are being shown on any of these big blow
up graphs to my knowledge as the other meaningful line would be the die off
point when they cross.
I feel for us the issue will be the overshoot dilemma. We humans are also in
the predicament of the polar bears which he refers too...bleak.
So the collapsing world economy which seems tobe predicted and also arriving
may just do what we ourselves are unable to approach. Which is shut the
petroleum/chemical derived food sources down.
I mention this as it is also in the special category that he refers to as
unacceptable discussion subjects.
What's the positive response? Acknowledging where we are and how close we
are walking near the cliff and then define survival priorities.
So stated another way.
Is it ten days or five days or two days grain reserves when we need to begin
looking at world food reserves?
Or what about the ocean ph falling and then at what point decide....it's not
just the toddlers of the world... it's us the lumbering Boomers who are
being included in this survival problem.
Yeah, we are in space on this and it seems their is no Huston to call this
time around.
PS: Actually, I'm not in the Boomer generation as I cluster with the over
the hill gang.
