just so everyone is on the same page or maybe the last page. The oil executives (CEO's) are now copping to the fact that crude oil has peaked world wide. What they are not explaining is world population and energy demand are continuing to grow and expand. And for oil producers this will mean oil prices will continue to increase. Again their will continue to be oil available ...but just for those who can afford it or have an army to take what they want. At some point gas stations will be in the same status as McMansion tracks are now becoming ..and which is fire wood for the squatters next door. OK, am i projecting science fiction on to the near future? I really don't think so as this will not come about as a slow settling or a dip in an economic cycle for the U.S. If plentiful oil and which this society is built on dries up their is... no alternative for the CONCENTRATED energy of petroleum fuels. The society will have to down size to the energy available and transportation fuel is not essential for our survival so it will be bikes and walking. And it is rumored people actually do this in other places. Of course we will first have to take classes and read books before we try it ourselves. Maybe to get a grasp of the future people who survive the initial die off will find they want to continue to eat and stay warm. And when they find the car doesnt do either of these for them they will abandon the soccer mom's life style. It will become the equivalent of a war time society and lets hope without the war.
